I tried your suggestions, didn’t work. Verison 8.4.1 installed and ran ok, then tried again updating to 8.4.2 without success, rolled back to 8.4.1 ok. Note that upon execution of 8.4.2 the Windows cursor/hourglass appears for just a short second and then the hourglass is gone. Not so with 8.4.1 where it stays a few more seconds while the app loads.
I downloaded at 27/11 and the file size is around 75MB, it work fine. But when I downloaded again at 30/11, the file size is only around 65MB. After install, it cannot start.
The new utility builds a smaller installer, so if you have a 75 meg installer, it’s not the right one. Here’s where we’re at:
76 meg installer: Works OK in all cases (but isn’t quite up to date)
68 meg installer: The latest version - but there are reports it does not install properly on some systems. It appears a complete uninstall solves the problem. Here’s how to do so properly:
Do Windows Uninstall of NSB AppStudio.
Get rid of NSB AppStudio folder in c:/Program Files (x86) if it is there.
Get rid of NSB AppStudio folder in c:/Program Files if it is there.
The new install utility is completely 64 bit. Unfortunately, the Windows Uninstaller does not always completely uninstall the old version, leaving some old 32 bit files around. These interfere with the running of the new version.
We’ll continue to monitor this to make sure this is the actual solution.
I tried steps as mentioned yesterday and it did not work. Tried it again today but turned AVG off. It installed ok and ran. In past installs AVG would always stop the install to “check it out”. I noticed with this latest install AVG did not complain which struck me as “why not”?
