Appstudio won't open on Mac High Sierra after update

[Mac running High Sierra 10.13.6]

I updated to 8.5.8.3 form 8.5.6.? and did a replace when I installed it.

The installation completed the verification process but when I try to open the App, the App icon only briefly shows in the task bar.

I deleted the updated App and reinstalled it. Same issue.

I think I remember other people have had problems like this in the past and that deletion of perhaps an old preference file corrected it?

AppStudio itself runs fine on High Sierra.

Recreating the Preferences file is a good thing to try in this case:

I even reinstalled an earlier version that had been running well but now I could not get it to open.

I’ll try deleting the preference file first and then maybe look into permissions settings.
