MacOS: Appstudio 9.2.0.1 crash when moved to second monitor

Having trouble with repeated crashing of Appstudio.

  1. had about 5 in a row when trying to drag Appstudio window to second monitor. Had to change to mirror and that worked but not what I needed to do.
  2. had another after that and got an error message (see image).

Tried to upgrade to 9.2.1.2 but couldn’t (see other post).

Thank you - we’ll try this here.

(I don’t expect 9.2.1.2 will help with this issue)

I had appstudio up when I shut my laptop top for the night. When I opened it today, it had crashed. Report below

I just hooked up a second monitor to my Mac. I see the same issue.

It’s a MacOS issue - Windows is not affected. We’re digging into this.

It looks like this bug was introduced in AppStudio 9.1.6, when we updated the wxPython library. It seems to be OK in 9.1.5.

You can download that here:

https://download.appstudio.dev.us-east-1.linodeobjects.com/AppStudio-v9.1.5.1.dmg

We’ll continue to work on a solution for the latest version.

Downloaded v9.1.5.1.dmg that you sent me. Overwrote the old 9.2. Started it up - said it was an old version - clicked OK.
Then never did anything. My activity monitor doesn’t show it running. Tried twice.

Thoughts? Next class is on Tues.

First thing I would do is try deleting ~/Library/Preferences/App Studio Preferences.

You’ll need to reenter your serial number after that.

that worked to let it run and it didn’t crash when I closed the laptop. we’ll see tomorrow about screen sharing .Thanks

We’ve managed to reproduce this using the official sample with comes with the wxPython library, which AppStudio uses to build its UI.

We’ve opened an issue there - hopefully it’s fixed in their next build.

Great! I’m having my students change to 9.1 as we had six crashes in class today.

Do your students use a second monitor in class?

Yes for group work.

OK, same issue then. I was worried it might be something else.

It was indeed a bug in wxPython. They have fixed it - now we have to wait for the fix to be released. This could be a while - they generally do only a couple releases a year. Are you OK using the old build for now?

Sure. Thanks!

Cindy

We just uploaded 9.3.1 - it should fix this problem. Can you give it a try?

Sure!

Cindy

I finally updated to 9.3.2.13 - will let you know if I have any problems.
