Problem with my M2 macBook Pro

I thought I’d upgrade to my macbook pro M2 computer. It has the latest OS, Sequoia 15.2. I have downloaded the latest builds of AppStudio (9.1.2.1 & 8.5.8.2). Neither will run. They seem to install, but they won’t run. Anyone have this same issue?
Thanks Rodney

I have a Mac Air M2 running Sequoia 5.2. AppStudio 9.1.2.1.

No problems here, but it did take a long time (minute) to load after initial install.

We’ve been running AppStudio on Apple Silicon since it came out - that is probably not the problem.

Can you describe exactly what happens when you try?

Try doing this:

  1. Drag AppStudio from Applications to the Trash
  2. Delete ~/Library/Preferences/App Studio Preferences. (Don’t see a Library folder?)

Today I once more compared with Windows 11 on a rather new and fast machine. It took 20 seconds from click on task bar until there was any sign visible that AppStudio would be launched. Meanwhile I became used to this waiting if something would happen. Could we have something like a splash screen or a wait cursor?

I closed AppStudio. Next try needed only 5 or 6 sec for AppStudio to appear.

Thank you Jim, George and bsommer…

After a couple of hours, I did get v9 working on my M2 macbook. I had to monitor what was happening by watch the process in the Activity Monitor (cpu). I noticed in ‘kind column’ all the processes in the list were ‘apple’ except for AppStudio which was listed as ‘Intel’. I wonder if the macbook is having to do an Intel translation? In any case, I’m over the issue (thank goodness).

In the Windows 11 parallels, neither v8 nor v9 would install. Message said programs incompatible. However, I went back to v7.3.0 and it installed and works. But, it won’t register. I read somewhere that the registration scheme has changed so v7.3 can no longer be registered.

I guess I don’t need it on Windows since it is running on the macbook now. However, I just make webapps, and so v7.3 would be nice as a backup on Windows. I would feel more comfortable if it was available.

Thanks again for everyone’s support,
Rodney
