I am trying to build an AppStudio app with Voltbuilder. It is the same app that I have been building many times in the past. I am now getting the folllowing error:
Error -1 returned from VoltBuilder: Build failed: 403 Subscription expired
I have an active AppStudio Essential Monthly Addtion.
Seems like everything is OK again. Somehow, something changed my Voltbuilder API credentials. Once I reset it, the error message went away and the build completed as expected.
Hi Michael. I was fortunate to have a copy of the Voltbuilder API credential saved in a file. I also could see that additional characters were added ot the end of the credential (starting with a “:” in my case). I removed the additional characters leaving just the original 32 (36 including the 4 dashes). After doing so, I was able to build my app once again without any errors.
Just FYI, my NSB AppStudio 9 also will randomly ‘forget’ the API key and thus displays a ‘Payment Required’ error message. I go back to voltbuilder website copy and then re-paste in the API key and its back working again. It appears the API gets cleared out randomly inside AppStudio for some reason. Not a big deal but definitely an issue to be found and fixed. It’s happened twice now.
Don’t dig too deep, it could be some problem with this PC too. The OS has been “customized” heavily, so you know, unexpected things tend to be a regular occurrence.
If your AppStudio subscription is up to date, you should not need an API key. Starting with AppStudio 9, the use of VoltBuilder is included in your AppStudio subscription.
I suspect I’ve got two subscriptions now that I’m looking at my emails. One is tied to a previous old bank card, another more recent one to my new card. I note the prices on the invoices are different. I didn’t notice this before because I was expecting an invoice from Voltbuilder, I just never looked at the detail until now. I may need to explore this a little further.
